Work

Work

This page does not present client projects. DRY TONGUE LTD has not published commissioned case studies here. What follows is a representative workflow, a technical scenario, a capability study and a second workflow. Each one describes a way of working. None of them is a record of a named engagement, and none of them reports a measured result.

Representative workflow

Management consulting

A management question is settled before communications spend is committed.

Context

An organisation can see that it needs to speak publicly, or to advertise, but the commercial decision underneath that activity is not yet clear. Spending first would freeze a story the management team does not hold.

Work

The workflow is a structured advisory pass: the question is written down, the constraints are listed, and the consequences for reputation, brand and advertising are named. It draws on business strategy and advisory, not on a campaign plan.

Solution

The intended product is a written direction the organisation can use internally. It states what has been decided, what is still open, and which communications should wait.

Supported outcome

The organisation has one brief. It can commission public relations, brand or advertising against that brief, or decide not to. No performance figure is claimed for this workflow.

Technical scenario

Media relations under pressure

A reputation issue is handled as a sequence, not as a pile of statements.

Context

This is a scenario, not an account of an event at a real organisation. The situation is the ordinary one: something has happened, journalists may call, and more than one person inside the organisation is inclined to explain it.

Work

The scenario sets a working order. Establish the known facts. Name who may speak. Prepare a first statement that does not outrun those facts. Log enquiries. Decide what the second statement is allowed to add.

Solution

Media relations and crisis communications are run from the same note. Campaign habits, such as filling silence with fresh claims, are set aside until the facts support them. Corporate reputation is protected by consistency, not by volume.

Supported outcome

The organisation can show, afterwards, what was known when each statement was made. The scenario does not predict coverage, and it does not describe a client.

Capability study

Corporate brand strategy

One description has to survive a conversation, a page and an advertisement.

Context

This study explains a capability. It does not describe a commission. The situation it addresses is an organisation whose public language has drifted: the website, the sales conversation and the advertising each tell a slightly different story.

Work

Brand communications work here is a comparison. What the organisation does. What it is willing to say. What it can evidence. The differences are written down before any line is proposed for advertising or media use.

Solution

The intended product is a short brand direction: a description, the proofs that belong with it, and the phrases that should be retired because they cannot be supported. Corporate brand strategy, in this study, is that document and the judgement inside it.

Supported outcome

Later public relations and digital advertising can use the same description. The study claims no award, no audience figure and no client.

Representative workflow

Digital advertising

A programme is planned around a decision the numbers are allowed to change.

Context

An organisation intends to advertise and wants the result read properly. This workflow is representative. It is not a report of a live account, and it contains no return, cost or conversion figure because none is being claimed.

Work

Digital advertising and strategy begins with the job of the advertising: a defined offer, a defined audience, and a definition of a useful response. Marketing performance analytics is then limited to the measures that match that job. Vanity counts are left out of the review.

Solution

The plan names the spend boundary, the creative claims that must stay inside the brand direction, and the moment at which the organisation will change or stop the activity. Reading performance is part of the work, not a slide added at the end.

Supported outcome

The organisation can say what the advertising was for and what it will do with the result. That is the outcome this workflow is built to support. It is not a case study.
