DRY TONGUE LTD is a strategic consulting and marketing agency. From Kingston House in Hull it provides integrated management consulting, public relations, brand strategy and digital advertising. Scientific and technical consulting is available where an organisation needs commercial and communications advice around specialised subject matter.

Management consulting

An empty boardroom at night, lit by a window onto the street and a single lamp.

Business strategy and advisory work starts from a management question: a priority that is unclear, a decision that has public consequences, or a plan that needs to be stated before money is spent on communications. DRY TONGUE LTD advises the people who hold that question. The work is scoped to it. It is not a standing claim to run the organisation.

Strategic marketing advisory sits here when the commercial direction and the later communications need to be considered together. A recommendation may cover how the organisation allocates attention, which audiences matter to the decision, and what should be settled before public relations, brand or advertising work begins. Where a representative workflow is useful, the work page shows the shape of that sequence without presenting it as a client project.

Management consulting does not replace directors, legal advisers or auditors. Written advice is prepared for the organisation that asked for it and is meant to be used inside that organisation.

Public relations

Public relations at DRY TONGUE LTD covers media relations, campaign management, corporate reputation and crisis communications. The practice treats these as one discipline with different tempos, not as separate products stacked on a list.

Media relations and campaign management means preparing what an organisation needs to say, to whom, and in which order. That can include briefing materials, a contact plan for relevant outlets, and a timetable the organisation can actually keep. It does not include a promise of coverage.

Corporate reputation management is the longer view: how decisions, conduct and public explanation sit together. Crisis management and communications is the shorter view: what is said when an event puts that reputation under pressure, who is authorised to say it, and how later statements stay consistent with the first one. A technical scenario on the work page sets out that sequence as a method, not as a report of a real incident.

Brand communications

Corporate brand strategy is the decision about how an organisation describes itself, and brand communications is the work of holding that description together. DRY TONGUE LTD helps define the language, the proof an organisation is willing to use, and the places that description has to survive: a conversation with a journalist, a page of advertising, an internal note.

The work is specific to the organisation’s actual activity. It does not arrive as a template, and this site does not present a proprietary model. A capability study explains the sequence. It is not a completed commission.

Where advertising or public relations will use the same language, the brand work is written so those teams are not inventing a second story. That is the practical test: one description, used in more than one channel, without decoration that the organisation cannot stand behind.

Digital advertising and strategy

Digital advertising and strategy covers the planning of paid communications and the reading of what those communications do. Marketing performance analytics, in this practice, means working with the figures an organisation can properly collect: spend, response, enquiry quality, and whatever else the brief names. It is not a dashboard product and it is not a promise of a return.

The advisory question is usually simple. What is the advertising for, which decisions will the numbers inform, and what will be changed if the numbers are poor? DRY TONGUE LTD will not invent a result to fill a report. The representative workflow shows how a programme of this kind is organised.

Scientific and technical consulting

Some organisations work with scientific or technical subject matter and need that subject matter handled carefully in strategy, public explanation, brand and advertising. DRY TONGUE LTD consults on that commercial and communicative task. The client provides the technical material. The practice does not hold itself out as a laboratory, a regulated scientific body, or a substitute for qualified specialists.

The useful work is translation with discipline: what can be said, what must stay qualified, which audience needs which level of detail, and how advertising or media relations can use the material without overstating it. Strategic marketing advisory connects that judgement to the wider plan.

If the question is primarily a management decision, it belongs with management consulting. If it is primarily a public explanation under pressure, it belongs with public relations. This service is the overlap, where the subject itself is technical.

Working approach

An engagement moves through five stages. They overlap in practice. Nothing on this page is a timetable, and none of it starts until the organisation and DRY TONGUE LTD have agreed the work separately.

01

Listen

The engagement starts from the organisation’s question, the market it is in, and the constraints it actually has.

02

Frame

The decision, the audience and the management or communications issue are stated in plain language before recommendations are written.

03

Direct

A recommendation is set across strategy, reputation, brand or advertising, according to the brief and not beyond it.

04

Support

DRY TONGUE LTD supports the organisation while the agreed work is carried out, including media relations or advertising where those are in scope.

05

Review

The work is reviewed against the brief and the measures that were agreed, including marketing performance where advertising is part of the engagement.
